Health service guarantee call

The Wanganui Area Health Board has been called to guarantee the present level o f health services for the Waimarino. At a public meeting held last Thursday two resolutions were passed concerning the board's draft strategic plan. One motion put to the meeting by Rev Bob Peck called for the board to guarantee "to

continue the level of local hospital services and care that exists at present when and if the strategic plan is adopted." The second motion, also put to the meeting by Rev Bob Peck, was in protest at the apparent inadequate central government funding of area health boards. The meeting was a lively discussion with mostly constructive criticism levelled at the board.
