Business Association seeks subs
Subscriptions are to be sought by the Ruapehu South Business Association. The last meeting approved a recommendation to charge $100 for a company subscription and $10 for a private subscription from April 1. The funds will be used to help meet running costs and the promotional activities. The meeting discussed a number of matters including a draft marketing plan for the region written by Turoa marketing manager Andy Chapman, plans for signboards at the entrances to the Waimarino and proposals for several publications promoting the area. Ruapehu Publishers managing director John Woods outlined plans for four special publishing projects: a new colour brochure for Ohakune and Raetihi; a pre-season winter newspaper called "Ruapehu '88"; six editions of the Waimarino Bulletin during the winter devoted to skiing and holiday attractions; a glossy magazine published in winter and in summer promoting the central North Island tourist region. The meeting decided to officially back and endorse the local publications and to advise businesses to advertise within them.
