Rain and blustery conditions reduced this year's Army
Inter-Unit Triathlon to a Biathlon. . Event organiser Corporal Dean Aitken said the planned 2km swim in the Moawhango Dam, 10km north of Waiouru was cancelled because of the cold temperatures. "We were worried some of them might get hypothermia," he said. Instead organisers staged a 2km run on top of the usual 25km cycle and 8km run stages. By coincidence Corporal Aitken, a keen athlete, won the open men's title in a time of 1 hour, 16 minutes and 54 seconds. Results Open Men's - Corp. D. Aitken.
