FROM TUROA TO TALL SHIPS
Venturetreks operator Wally Romartes, whose company runs Venturelodge in Ohakune, has just retumed from a fabulous few weeks aboard one of the 1 1 square-rigged sailing ships involved in Australia's bicentennial celebrations. However, Wally's adventure wasn't the tourist type, but a true working passage as a crew member. He says it was an experience of a lifetime. Later this year his company will be offering short commercial voyages aboard the old sailing ships in New Zealand waters. And if friends of the supposedly semi-retired outdoorsman think he might not be occupied beyond that, they'll be interested to know that Wally is currently coordinating a massive North Pole expedition due to take place in 1990.
