Mill scholar from Raetihi
Raetihi teenager Rachel Berry is this year's recipient of the Winstone Samsung Industries' scholarship. The scholarship enables students to study full-time at Massey University, pays their varsity fees and half the cost of their book fees. the only proviso is that a good standard of work is maintained throughout the year. The successful applicants are also guaranteed a job at the Mill if they desire, during their breaks. Rachel 18, a former pupil of Ruapehu College now working in Raetihi, said she was positively thrilled with her acceptance. "It's great - an opportunity of a lifetime," she said. Rachel said she will be pursuing a science degree at Massey University but is unsure what she intends to do at present. Last year's recipient Jimmy Samson has just completed his first year at university and has regularly worked at Winstone's during that time.
