NZ software winners
Two agricultural software programs produced by MAFTech's National InfoSystems Centre (NISC) have been selected from more than 80 entries for the final round in an
international competition being held in Australia. The microcomputer programs, 'Lamb Drafting Model' and 'Orchard', are designed to increase primary sector profitability through the better use of resources, says Mr Bryan
Christiansen, NISC Development Manager. "It is great to see N e w Zealand produced agricultural software being recognized as world class. W e believe the judges are recognizing not only the quality of the software products themselves, but also the valuable contribution these tools make to the agricultural sector." The computer software competition for farming and rural .applications is being conducted by the Royal Agricultural Society of New South Wales. The competition results will be announced and the presentation of the awards will be made prior to the 1988 Royal Easter Show. "This if the first time NISC has entered an international competition so we are pleased with this success," says Mr Christiansen. "We believe it demonstrates MAFTech's lead in delivering effective technology in agriculture. It also reflects well on New Zealand farmers and orchardists who are willing to apply technology solutions in their management."
