Anglican News Beginning today (Tuesday, February 16th), Anglicans have a vcry busy wcck. First of all, this evening at 6pm parishioncrs and thcir friends will gather at the home of David & Alison Seifert, Ohura Road, Raetihi for a SHROVE TUESDAY PANCAKE SUPPER. Bring the family, bring your friends, bring pancake fillings or toppings and the pancakcs will be provided. Evcnts of the evening will finish at 7.30pm. Ash Wednesday (February 17th) bcgins Ihe penitential church season of lcnt. Thcre will be a celebration of the Holy Eucharist and imposition of Ashes at 10.00am in St. Mary's Church, Raetihi. Later in the day, at 5.15pm, L Anglicans & Catholics will combine for an ASH WEDNESDAY service in St. Patrick's Church, Seddon Street, Raetihi. This service will be the first of several services and ac/SjiPEy .y JM tivities to be hcld jointly by the two ESSr local churches as part of the national * j&jpr Lenten programme: 'Walking mjr Together Towards Easter; yW Anglicans - Catholics: 1988'. ^ 1 Catholic and Anglican Bishops of 1988 | New Zealand have initiated this programme and recommended the same to their parishes throughout the nation. The local Anglican Mission Committee will meet at 7.30pm on Ash Wednesday evenings at the home of Mr. & Mrs Ian Penny to make the final plans for the Church Army Mission, March 18th - March 27th. Captain Peter Allfrey, Church Army Missions Officer for New Zealand will be present for the meeting.
