MOTORING AROUND THE MOUNTAIN

Gary Wensor, of Taumarunui, and Beryl Gordon of Te Kuiti, met each other through King Country Hot Rod Club acitivities. So when they tied the knot at the St Paul's Church here late last month, it was most appropriate that hot rod cars should transport them. Above, in front, is a 1935 Ford Sedan which took its owners, Charlie and Leigh Proude of Te Awamutu, hours and hours to get in such pristine condition. It sports a 302 cubic inch Chey

V8 motor under the bonnet. The other hot rod is also from Te Awamutu and belongs to Paddy and Colleen Oldfield. It's a 1935 Dodge Sedan and it features a 350 cubic inch Chev motor. Both hot rod owners are long-time friends of Gary. Taumarunui has its own Hot Rod Club but its rather static at present. The elegant cars were certainly something a bit different for the wedding and were virtually matching.
