Waiouru golf attracts all comers

Waiouru's golfing equivalent of the Desert Fair, the Mountain Classic, was played in glorious sunshine a t Pearce Park o n Saturday. The 36-hole stroke play tournament with an array of huge prizes attracted competitors from all over the country. One hundred and nine starters, 23 in the women's section, took to the course. In an exciting finish two competitors from the Levin Golf Club, Brendon Hannon and Graeme Ellis, played an 'instant death' elimination round after both men finished the 36 holes on 73.
