3-D Movie

I wonder how many other viewers of TVNZ's 3-D movie 'Gorilla At Large' feel as I do - that 3-D is best left on the big screen, and that their $1.99 was ill-spent. Their Monday night 'Special' was a farce - an out-of-focus phoney that had none of the realism promised, after weeks of promoting the 'event' as something well worth watching. For somewhat less than two hours I endured the double vision and bad acting (giving credit where it's due - the gorilla was a 'natural', right down to the seam in its head). Unfortunately the only thing this viewer came away with was a headache and fceling that somewhere out there, someone made a killing in the 3-D glasses market and they're enjoying a good laugh at our expense. After all, imagine the spectacle (if you'll pardon the pun) of thousands of New Zealandcrs sitting six ineasured feet dircctly in front of their tclcvision sets; all wearing funny cardboard glasses; all dcsperatcly trying to gct the optimum viewing effcct from a colouriscd 1950s movie. I, for one, won't be so all-fired quick to give up a hot bath and a good book ihe next time around.

Pass ihe Aspirin

( Ohakune ) P.S. The saving grace is that procceds from the 3-D glasses 'rip-off) wcnt to Barnados.
