Nursing major no stranger

Waiouru Hospital's new principal nursing officer Major Rosemary Kent is no stranger to Waiouru or its climate. However, after a two and a half year stint in Singapore, she admits to feeling the cold. Major Kent took up the position from former nursing officer Bruce Yarwood who she has worked with on two separate occasions.

Major Yarwood transferred to Papakura in Septcmber last year. Major Kent joined the Royal New Zealand Nursing Corp in 1982 at the completion of a comprehensive nursing course. Christchurch born, she spent 13 months stationed at Ohakea before her transfer to the New Zealand Force Hospital in Singapore. Major Kent was nomi-

nated to the position of honorary nurse to the Governor General Sir Paul Reeves in November. She has attended several investitures as aide-de-camp to the Governor General and is thrilled with the position which is for 12 months. Her transfer to Waiouru heralded an influx of paperwork associated with a 24-hour clinic. The position involves the day to day running of the complex and roster of 12 staff. Major Kent will be working closely with the community's two civilian doctors and anticipates being kept extremely busy during her station.
