Raetihi award for community effort
Raetihi humanitarian Wyn McCarthy was honoured with a post-humus award for her tireless and selfless devotion to the community by members of the Raetihi Boroiigh council last month. Members of Mrs McCarthy's family accepted the Good Citi^enship Award on her behalf. Mayor Garrick Workman said the award was a small token of the council' s appreciation of and respect for Mrs McCarthy. Mrs McCarthy was active in many community
organisations and took a keen interest in the welfare of the elderly of the community. The award - a silver candelabra presented by the family of the late Ruby Parker, will be presented annually to individuals displaying qualities of humanity and community spirit.
