Raetihi anti-crime group

A surveillance system to be established in Raetihi in the New Year incorporating Maori Wardens will be aiming to dispel criminal activities from -the town.

Established by the Whakangahau Trust, the Waimarino's six Maori Wardens will work in a voluntary capacity on a roster system. While they are on call full-time, wardens will be on duty primarily between 7pm-llpm during the week. The Trust has carried out its own surveillance of the town, three nights a week for the past few months and will continue to operate a group in conjunction with the Maori Wardens.
