No-drunk pledge
This year Wanganui was chosen as the venue for a special campaign against drinking drivers. During that period there was a large drop in the accident rate proving the point! 'Drinking Drivers Cause Accidents' As the festive season fast approaches with the pressure on to attend yet another 'Christmas Shout' the instances of drinking and driving increase dramatically. Despite the best intentions of remaining sober it is very easy in a convivial social atmosphere to have that one too many.
'One for the road' can lead to two or three and without thinking twice we're into the car, on the way home beyond the legal limit and in some cases all limits. Last year Raetihi chose to support the 'Drink-Drive-Die' message initiated by Dr Rene de Jongh of Wanganui Base Hospital. This year the message is being hammered home again. J The Xmas-New Year pe- 9. riod is a special time for most people. Don't rain it! Let us all get behind this I campaign by pledging not to drink and drive.
