LETTER
I was utterly confused upon reading your article entitled "Ohakune aesthetics summed up" in your edition of the Bulletin dated 1 December. I have obviously been under the false impression that we provide a carpark, not for its aesthetic beauty but for the following reasons: 1) An area for all the town's dog owners to let their unleashed, unregistered dogs to urinate and pass "unwanted food" in. 2) An area for young mums and dads to deposit or try and hide soiled disposable nappies (we provide small shrubs against the wall for this purpose). 3) An area to throw away empty alcohol bottles, empty fast food containers and uneaten foodstuffs. 4) An area for vehicle owners to empty their car ashtrays and other accumulated rubbish in, while their partner is shopping somewhere in town. The Trustbank, the Ohakune Borough Council, and ourselves have tried to help these people out by not providing any rubbish bins on our side of the road. I also realise that I may have been wrong in providing aiming spots on our fence for leamer drivers to aim at, but it did prove there are good drivers in Ohakune. I will try and amend my ways and bring my idea of a carpark into line with the people of "Keep New Zealand Beautiful".

P.S. We did clean up everyone else's rubbish and staff member who did it had the good fortune of finding an unwanted $10.00 note - that's our sort of rubbish!!
