Ohakune Christmas

Don't miss out on this Saturday's Ohakune Family Fun Day, which looks set to provide lots of entertainment and bargains for shoppers. The shops open at 9.00am for you to do your Christmas shopping and Father Christmas will be aniving on a sleigh of a different kind at ten for all the kids to see. Ohakune Sports and Gifts will hold a decorated children's bicycle competition, which will be judged at 1 1 .30am. Community groups will be holding stalls all round town - (those not already registered for Saturday should let Bob Norling know at Ohakune TV & Electrical). For the stomach there will be a hot Chinese food stall and a sausage sizzle. The Turoa Skifields lost property auction will start at around 10.45 next to Ohakune TV & Electrical. The 'Cafe Stua Car Boot Sale' will be held on Saturday morning. It is a garage sale on wheels, were you fill up your car boot with your junk (which hopefully will be someone else's bargains!) and park down town. Sellers should register with Bob Norling. Ohakune TV & Electrical will give away a prize for

the oldest eggbeater in town, there will be quick-fire raffles and lucky numbers all round the shops, and bargain stalls outside most stores. The Waimarino Brass Band will be there to play Christmas Carols, 'Top Secret' live entertainment will be provided outside Bucks Drapery and a busker will be playing in Cedar Mall near Ragtime. Bucks' mad hatters' competition will see prizes given for the most outrageous hat worn on the day. Hats will be judged at 11.45am. A note on Ohakune's pre-Christmas late night shopping - to provide time for last minute gift buyers shops will be open late Tuesday 22 and Thursday 24 December. On Thursday 24 there will be free films for children at 4.00pm, perfect for your hassle free late Christmas shopping!
