Raetihi pool group pleased
The Waimarino Chills Off, Committee are well pleased with their latest fundraising effort that raised in excess of $1000 for the project to enclose the Raetihi swimming baths. Their Christmas gala held at the rugby gym in Raetihi on Sunday 29 November was well patronised by public despite unfavourable weather on the day. The most popular stall proved to be the chinese cooking, run by committee member Keith Kui. Other
stalls included quick fire raffles, sweets and hot dog stands, homemade chocolates, christmas and cake decorations and dolls. Skating at the rink adjacent to the gym was cancelled due to heavj rain. Chills Off chairman Shirley McDonough thanked the committee for their efforts and the community for their support for 1987. The Chills Off committee have so far raised over $18,000 but need to raise $120,000 for the pool project.
