OK for Raetihi bus-stop
The Raetihi Borough Council approved the erection of a 'Bus Stop' sign outside the Golden Opossum Restaurant in Seddon St, after lengthy deliberation at their recent full council meeting. Mayor Garrick Workman said the council were at first hesitant in approving the sign but believe that the restaurant is in an ideal location for a bus stop. Owner of the restaurant
Kevin Pickworth, went to some expense to provide toilets for patrons. Council is considering whether to close the town's public toilets which are "in a bad state of disrepair", according to Mr Workman, and instead direct people to the toilet facilities at the restaurant. Councillors agreed that it is impossible to keep the public toilets, which are unattended, in an operative state.
