Scheme loan
Waimarino County Councillors decided at their meeting last week to advertise Council's intention to raise a loan for the Rangataua sewerage scheme. Council resolved by special order to raise the loan which will be for $280,000 for a period of 20 years. The scheme would cover the area of Rangataua from the main trunk line to the south side of Kaka Street. Provision has been made for Rangataua School to be included in the scheme
though it is not within the main area. Notice is also given by the County that if 15% or more of Ratepayers object to the scheme, a poll of ratepayers must be taken. More than half the number of ratepayers must agree to the scheme for it to proceed if a poll is taken. Ratepayers will be given the choice to pay for the scheme in a lump sum or as an annual charge. Councillor Gavin Jones put a motion to Council early in October to apply to the loans board for sanction to raise the loan.
