Imagination flows in speeches
Senior pupils a t R a e tihi Primary School let their imaginations run riot during last week's speech competition. Topics were wide-ranging and included 'My Invention', 'How T o : cook/bake/grow' and 'When I Explored'. The winners of this year's competition, Olive Prince (Form 2) and Lisa Crowley (Form 1) were placed first equal, with Steven Dowman (Form 1) in second place. Judges Gaye Fahey and Valma Littlewood who have officiated at the competition for many years said they were impressed by the standard of this year's entries. Originality, the use o f imagination and humour were contributing factors in the winning speeches. Pupils had the choice of eight different subjects on which to base their speeches. The school has favoured impromptu speech -making in previous years, but this year opted for set topics for variation.
