Lodge donation
Ngauruhoe Masonic Lodge has donated $935 to the Ohakune Borough Council, $300 to be spent on beautification of the Borough and $635 for interior decorating in the council pensioner flats. Lodge member Snow Brannigan presented council with a cheque for the amount at last week's full council meeting. He said the donation was made possible from the
sale of the Lodge's 'back section' in Arawa Street. the donation is part of interest earned from the proceeds of the sale of the land. Mr Brannigan said the section was originally the 'horse paddock' for the lodge. "It came to the attention of a couple of the' lodge brethren that not many members were riding horses to meetings these days," said Mr Brannigan, "so the land was sold".
