Design competition for crest

The new Waimarino District Council is in need of a crest to represent the council so is calling for designers to come up with ideas. District Manager John Murrihy said as the new council will include Ohakune, Raetihi and the Waimarino the design would need to represent all three areas. The councils are to offer a prize for the best design

received, though the design that is eventually used may incorporate elements of more than one entry. The closing date for the competition is 7 Decem- • ber. Mr Murrihy said such short notice is necessary because the crest will be needed mid-January. Entries should be: in two colours, but be adaptable to one; should be on white paper drawn in pencil, ink or paint; and about 10cm deep. The final design will be used in a variety of situations, from wall crest size down to letterhead size.
