Raetihi Fire Brigade hosts meeting

On Saturday 7 November, the Raetihi Fire Brigade hosted the quarterly meeting of the U.F.B.A. Delegates from Wellington, Levin, Shannon, Feilding, Palmerston North, Wanganui, Ohakune and Raetihi Brigades attended. The ExeciT've met at the Raetihi Fire Station for a committee meeting in the morning and their wives were entertained by Chief Fire Officer A. Weir's wife, who took them on a town

and country garden tour. Luncheon was served at the Raetihi Station. Following the annual general meeting, delegates and their wives were addressed by Mr John Heaphy, District Conservation Officer of Raetihi. His audience was informed on recent developments and policy of the Department of Conservation, as well as information on the bird and animal life in the Waimarino area. Mr Hea-

phy's address was judged a most involving and interesting seminar. The social held that evening at the fire station was attended by all delegates and wives including a near-full muster of Raetihi Volunteer Fire Brigade personnel. Refreshments and socialising continued well into the little hours, with frequent discussion leading to a better understanding of all facets of Fire Brigade activities.
