New Look Toyota
A specially developed Toyota Celica two-litre coupe will campaign this season's motor racing events in the red and white livery of the new Toyota Dealer Team. Since its debut in last year's Nissan Mobil 500 street race in Wellington, the car has undergone extensive developmental work at the Toyota Team New Zealand motor racing development centre at Paraparaumu. The Toyota Dealer Team is aiming to win the sevenrace New Zealand two-litre championship, the first round of which is at Manfeild on January 3. The Dealer Team Celica will again be driven by Brett Riley, whose co-driver this season will be John Smith, a foundation member of Toyota Team Australia. A second Celica, also prepared at the Toyota Team New Zealand motorsport development centre, will be driven by Dave Barrow. This car is also entered for the full 1987/88 Group A programme under a separate sponsorship programme.
