Oceania Market Drops
MITSUBISHI Motors I Corporation was one of only I three manufacturers to I increase total vehicle proI duction in Japan during the I first half of this year. Output was up 5.6%, compared with drops in production by Toyota of 3.3%, Nissan 2.0%, Mazda | 3.8% and Honda 4.3%. i Total production in Japan was down 1.8% and exports l were down 6.2%. Mitsubishi, Toyota, Daihatsu and Suzuki were the only manufacturers to record increased export saies. Total Japanese car exports to Oceania, which includes New Zealand and Australia, were down 32%, the biggest single market drop. Other markets to fall were North America down 10%, Central America down 22% and the Middle East down 18%, but saies to Europe lifted 8% and South America jumped 16%.
