Celica Set To Perform
TOYOTA Team New Zealand director Chris Amon is confident everything has been done to make the Toyota Dealer Team Celica an aggressive competitor with a good chance of carrying off the new 0-2000cc New Zealand Championship crown. "The Celica was starting to reach its true potential during the running of the Nissan Mobil at Pukekohe in February of this year, where only nagging overheating problems detracted from its clear class superiority," said Amon. "However, we believe we have now sorted out the 1986/87 teething problems and the car is now capable of a sound and very competitive performance for the whole of the coming season. "The Celica is proving to be an excellent test bed for our motor sport development programme and we are looking forward to demonstrating more fully its capabilities in the season ahead." Amon said the international Wellington street race, held on October 26, would be a first-class "shop window" in which to debut the Toyota Dealer Team Celica.
