God's plan for life
At present thousands of students throughout New Zealand are preparing for school certificate examinations. Many of these students will not be looking forward with any great enthusiasm to the actual exam, but they know that it is a task that needs to be completed because it forms a part of the pattem of their life. How frequently do we approach undesirable tasks, preferring to avoid them altogether, but knowing that they must be undertaken because they are a necessary part of life?
Our lives are formed by sequences of events both pleasant and unpleasant, God sees our life in its totality and he knows which experiences will ultimately be of most benefit to us. He has an excellent plan for our lives; we have the choice of whether or not we seek that plan. Do we believe that we are accountable only to ourselves or do we believe that we are accountable to a Divine Creator who has designed a plan for our lives? The Bible says "All the days ordained for me were written in your (God's) book before one of them came to be" (Psalm
139:16). Are we interested in pursuing a path of life designed by one who knows us more intimately than we do ourselves? God is not a stem, dictatorial Deity, but a God of love and compassion whose desire is to see his beloved creation experience a full life. We are told in the Bible that "God so loved the world that he gave His one and only son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16). And when Jesus came, His words were: "I have come that they (us) may have life and have it to the full". (John 10:10). Sue Kumeroa
