Glass work needs precision

Years of experience are needed to master the art of glass cutting and leadlighting, as 10 local people who took part in a weekend instruction course recently discovered. By the number of cuts and grazes at the end of the weekend it was apparent to the group that glass cutting requires precision and patience. Under the guidance of Wanganui Regional Community College tutor Deiter

Bedenkneckt, the class learned how to design a two-dimensional 'sun-burst' panel using the copper foil technique. Copper foil and solder were used as an alternative to lead strips. The same method was used later in the construction of simple plant terrariums. The course was one of many run in the Waimarino this year by the Community College.
