Load of rubbish for cubs

It's all in a day's work for the Ruapehu Cub Troop who last week conducted a working bee as part of National Community Service Week. The 16 cubs shouldered rubbish sacks and set off on foot, picking up litter around Ohakune township and along Tohunga Road to the dump. In just under half an hour, they collected a trailer load of rubbish from the grass verges around the town, according to cub leader Helen Hammond. As well as being appreciated by residents, their community service work will count towards their conservation badges which the boys are half towards attaining.
