Council grateful

Members of the Ohakune Borough Council showed their appreciation for the work done by Auckland publisher John Sandford and Catherine Dodd for their part in the operation of the Ruapehu Region Information Centre in Clyde Street, at an informal supper held at the Borough Chambers last week. Ohakune's Mayor Bill Taylor commended firstly Mr Sandford as the initiator of the Information

Centre and then Mrs Dodd, who managed to successfully operate the office on a "shoestring" budget. The Office became the responsibility of AA Wanganui after Mr Sandford relinquished financial responsibility earlier this year. It is due to reopen next week with Kim White as information officer. Kim is training in Taihape for the job at present.
