Ohakune Simonsen hold broken
The Ohakune Women's Bowling Club conceded defeat to a strong Wanganui side during their most recent challenge for the Simonsen's Cup. For Ohakune the loss meant relinquishing the Cup after a record 27 challenges. The teams
played in brilliant weather last. Friday, with the scores near even at the eighth end. Wanganui notched up some high-scoring ends and eventually emerged the winner, with a final score of 23-14. The teams were: Ohakune - C. Kaiwhare (lead), R.
Kaiwhare (2), B. Cochrane (3) and A. Nation (skip); Wanganui - M. Tonks (lead), J. Byrnes (2), J. Sharpe (3) and D. Pedley (skip). Ohakune played a Rapanui team last Monday for the Pluck Cup and were victo- j rious, 27-14.
