Accomplished Ruapehu netballers end great season
In their second year as a team Ruapehu Netball Club have accomplished a great deal. The Waimarino Netball Association held their prizegiving on closing day Sunday 27 September. Ruapehu won the A grade cup, 3rd round cup as well as closing day trophy. Five of their players were selected for the Waimarino under-21 reps. In July they travelled to Marton for the Tamati Netball Tournament where they were overall winners of the B grade and also won the cup for best dressed team. They are coached by sisters Jacqui Condon and Heather Parr who concurred that the Marton tournament was quite and experience and challenge for the girls as the Waverley team played in the finals actual-
ly play Senior 2nds in Wanganui. On 16 August they were runners-up in the Waimarino tournament which was sponsored by New World. The secret of their success must surely be that the majority of the team are members of one family. They ended the Netball season with a barbecue held on Saturday 26 September. Cups were presented to Bernadette Pue for most dedicated team member, Donna Reid and Tania Manahi most improved players, and Stephanie Parr outstanding player of the year. Heather Parr, delegate of the Waimarino Netball Association commented that a small association like theirs has a lot to offer as long as they pull together and unite as one. Ruapehu Netball Club wish all teams the best for 1988.
