Council want baths open

The question of whether to charge patrons of the Ohakune Swimming Baths for the 1987/88 season will be discussed by Council at the next Finance meeting. Council have already advised the lessees of the property, Victoria Park Markets of Auckland, that they intend opening the baths and that arrangements for their operation be along the same lines as previous years. Business Association Ohakune's Mayor Bill Taylor congratulated the newly formed Ruapehu South Business Association on behalf of the Ohakune Borough Council last week.

The group is made up of business people and representatives of the tourism industry in the Waimarino. Cr Jim Goldfinch will act as liaison officer for the Council and report on happenings from the Association's monthly meetings, to be held in the Summit Bar of the Ohakune Hotel. Rubbish Ohakune ratepayers transporting rubbish via trailer within the Ohakune Borough should take steps to secure their loads or face the consequences. That is a message from the monthly meeting of the Ohakune Borough Council. The topic came under the

heading of 'Keep New Zealand Beautiful', with councillors aiming to increase public awareness of the problems associated with unsecured loads.
