Wintery conditions for Army triathletes
Twenty teams of three, and ten individuals took part in last week's Army triathlon, organised by the senior class of ATG's Officer Cadet School. The triathlon followed a route from the Army base south-east to Tangiwai and back. Leg one involved a gruelling 18km bike ride from Waiouru Camp to the Tangiwai Junction and return; leg two, 20 lengths (666 metres) of Burns Pool; leg three, an 8km run along 'Home Valley Rd' in Waiouru Camp. Despite wet, blustery conditions, some good times were recorded. Results (teams event): 1st Messrs Skinner, Joyce, Ward/4 Comp. Sqn./l hr 14 min. 2nd Messrs Aitkins, Craig, Ms Rimere/HQ Coy./l hr 18 min 45sec. 3rd Cpl Blackburn, OCdt Taylor, OCdt Tuatini/OCS/1 hr 18 min 53 sec.
(Individual event) Mens: lst Rob Hoult/RFCS/1 hr 14 min 50 sec. 2nd S.Sgt Peter Malloy/HG Coy./l hr 25 min. 3rd OCdt Steve Harvey/OCS/1 hr 28 min 16 sec. Ladies: OCdt Patricia Hilliam/OCS/1 hr 43 min 31 sec.
