Bank branch gives away money

Waimarino clubs, schools and societies were the benificiares of the generosity of the two local branches of Trustbank Wanganui last week. About $2,500 was donated to the 25 groups at a function held in the Summit Bar of the Ohakune Hotel on Monday evening last week. Trustbank board member David Buchannan, from Mangaweka presented the cheques to group representatives. He said the bank was pleased with the progress the two Waimarino branches had made. Depositors' funds at the Ohakune branch total more than $5.6 million and at Raetihi, more than $1.5

million, said Mr Buchannan He said total lending in the Waimarino is over $5 million. "The more support the bank gets, the more it can put back into these groups," said Mr Buchannan. Waimarino Trustbank manager Aubry Dodd said it was very pleasing that there are so many groups in the Waimarino that are very active. He said that every year new groups are starting up. "Trustbank is the only bank that puts some of its profits directly back into the community", said Mr Dodd. Raetihi recipients of donations were: Raetihi Boy Scouts; Waimarino Rodeo Assoc.; Campus Life Assoc.; Raetihi Plunket Car Seat Hire; Raetihi Central Netball Club; Raetihi Bowling Club; Raetihi Pony Club; Raetihi Swimming Club; Waimarino Smallbore Rifle Club; Raetihi Primary School.
