Bedroom burns
The Ohakune Volunteer Fire Brigade was called to a fire in Arawa Street, Ohakune last Thursday at 2.26pm. Two appliances attended the fire which destroyed a bed and bedding, a wardrobe, a . chest of drawers, clothing and personal effects.
The fire was apparently caused by an electric blanket. It was confined to the bedroom were it started. The firefighters entered the building with breathing apparatus but the house was unoccupied. Large amounts of smoke billowed from the building before the fire was contained.
