Austrian coaches nationals

The sights of the five members of New Zealand's National 'A' ski team are set firmly on the 1988 Winter Oiympics in Caigary, Canada and helping them to achieve their goal is Austrian coach Sepp Brunner. Mr Brunner was in the Waimarino for 10 days, on a six week visit to New Zealand as chief coach of the country's 'A' ski team. Team members Simon Wi

Rutene, Mathius Hubrich, Nils Coberger, Ian McLean and local teenager Chris Mosaed received expert instruction from Mr Brunner, who is ranked as one of the world's best in his field. Mr Brunner began skiing when he was just three years old. Now 28, he has represented his country on several occasions including in the junior national and an Austrian demonstration team that toured the world, demonstrating new tech-

niques. He coached the New Zealand 'B' team in Europe three years ago and in 1985 began coaching the technical 'A' team. While in the Waimarino, he was accommodated by Amanda and Tony Mosaed of Raetihi. Mr Brunner said he was grateful for the support of FAR Bank in Wellington, the sponsors of his trip and Miles Bockett Motors, Wanganui for the use of a vehicle while in the area.
