Police File
Ohakune Volunteer Fire Brigade and police attended a car accident on Raetihi Road at 8pm on Friday night, when a landrover left the road and rolled onto its roof. The three occupants of the vehicle escaped with minor in juries. ★★★ A quantity of clothing, personal effects and two packs were stolen from a makeshift 'campsite' in Rochfort Park, sometime between 10.00 and 10.30pm on Friday night. The owners of the property left their tent and possessions next to the children's tank in the park for a short time and returned to find them gone. ★ ★★ No one was injured when a car left the road and rolled into a paddock just out of Rangataua at around 5.30am on Saturday morning. ★ ★★ No report on events in Raetihi was available at the time the Bulletin went to print. ★ ★★ Ohakune Police Constable Brian Wilson warned individuals participating in Bungee jumping - jumping from high structures attached to a long rope of elastic - to exercise the proper care and restraint (see photo and caption, front cover). Constable Wilson was referring to the weekend's activities at the Hapuawhenua Viaduct and advised jumpers to seek permission from the proper authorities - in this case New Zealand Railways - before attempting bungee jumping from any location.
