More to come in shop improvements
A lighter, brighter and more spacious interior greets customers at Hammonds Bookshop in Goldfinch Street, Ohakune, which is only one of the changes in the 'new look' regime. Bob and Eileen Hammond who took over ownership of the business in June have long range plans to completely remodel the interior and exterior of the shop, which will compliment the architecture of adjacent Cedar Mall. Short term plans include increasing their already extensive range of ehildren's toys and novelties, with a huge shipment due for Christmas and increasing the range of cards and the variety of hobby and New Zealand scenery books on sale. A multi-tier magazine rack due to arrive shortly will double their capacity for display. Eileen Hammond said they intend to build up their stock of quality toys that last longer and are more resilient. "With four children of our own, we're fully aware of the need for toys that last," she said.
