A proposal by a Raetihi businessman to operate a bed and breakfast lodge on his property in Ameku Road was given consent by the Raetihi Borough Council last week. Colin Fredericksen recently put forward a planning application to convert his restored twostorey home into private lodgings.

Council granted the application subject to several conditions including: no more than 12 guests at a time; noise to be in keeping with a residential zone; and provision must be made for off-street parking. The Borough Council is to paint a white line along the centre of Ameku Road, around the dangerous bend, and erect a sign advertising motorists of 'Children' walking. These costs will be met by Mr Fredericksen.
