Show Hunting Seminar
Equestrian enthusiasts in the Waimari-no-Taihape area are invited to attend a seminar entitled "Introduction to Show Hunting". The seminar will be held at the Ohakune Club on the evening of Wednesday 23 September and will cover all aspects of Show Hunting - Purpose, rules, Course Designing/Building, Judging, Introduction to Symbols, Riding, Equipment and the overall concept. It is hoped that attendance will include all riders, prospective judges and organisers as well as representatives from each pony club, show and
sports club in the area. The Show Hunter Division of the Show Jumping Discipline was formed in '86 although classes had been held at several shows prior to that. It was formed to develop better schooled, smoother, safer jumping, more balanced and confident horses having a better foundation with which to move into Show Jurhping or Eventing. It also wants to develop smoother, more balanced and analytical riders and provide a competitive opportunity for the less aggressive rider and/or young horses. Those attending will be treated to the first and probably only viewing in N.Z. of top class international American and Jap-
anese videos. These were brought to N.Z. to promote Show Hunting but have lain around, virtually unused due to the American and Japanese video systems being incompatible with that in N.Z. Prospective judges watched a very shakey, blurred production in '86. However, a video set has been hired which can take the tapes and produce top viewing qualities. Anybody interested in any facet of competitive jumping is welcome to attend. A small door charge will be required as well as a plate for supper. Watch the Classified Ads next week for details and/or contact Heather Montgomery in Ohakune.
