TAUMARUNUI SHOPPING GUIDE

With over 70 retail shops Taumarunui has plenty to offer shoppers who are looking for variety, competitive prices or something a little different. With several of the bigger chain stores like Farmers, Smith and Brown, Woolworths, Furniture House and New World in the town, shoppers are able to take advantage of the specials offered as well as competitive prices and in-store offers. As well as the bigger chain stores Taumarunui is well represented by the smaller owner-operator businesses and shoppers have no need to go to the bigger centres to find what they want. Several of the more specialist type stores have opened in the town recently with bridal accessories, pet supplies, floral art requirements and novelty gift items readily available. Gardeners will also find that they can get all their plants, trees and shrubs from one of the three g arden centres. Being a smaller centre, retailers are a lot more friendly and the personal touch in service is prevalent. If they don't have what you want retailers are only too happy to go that

extra mile and will get goods in. A trip to Taumarunui is well worth it for people in nearby towns like Raetihi and Ohakune as the roads are good. Once the kids have left for school hop in the car and make the trip. There are plenty of places where you can buy lunch and you'll have plenty of time to get the shopping done and be home by the time school's out. There's nothing like a good outing to perk up the spirits and if you organise it in advance you can treat yourself to a hair-do at one of the town's beauty salons.

Late night closing Friday 8.30p.m. Most shops are open on Saturday mornings from 9-12
