A&P SHOW
At the recent AGM the following officers were elected: Patron H.H. Brown, President Brian Chambers, Vice President Ian Roke, Tom Punch, Secretary Bernice Frost, 4^/. Secretary Anne Boyd, Treasurer Debbie Alabaster, Auditor T. Bennett. Plus enthusiastic committee members who are convinced that the show in February 1987 is going to be the best yet. Things started moving a few months ago with an idea of holding a Personality Contest. The idea was discussed with Lions Club and business people - the outcome was a 'thumbs down' but from it sprang a new scheme. The feeling from people is that they want to take part by doing whatever it is they like to do. Craft groups are keen to have stalls - all are welcome at no charge and they may sell or display as they wish. Sports groups are keen to come. Deerstalkers will put on a good display. Turoa Skifields and National Parks have both agreed to come with excellent displays depicting their activities. Everyone is welcome and a "Waimarino Day" is what the committee hopes will evolve. The Shearer's Committee has been approached to have their Sunday shearing event at the showgrounds - there will be work to do before a shearing set-up can be established but the Committee is hopeful of making it happen.
