Stylish New Sierra Wagon
THE new Ford Sierra Wagon is distinguished by a completely new front incorporating powerful flush fitting headlights. This redesigned front, with new impact resistant bumpers for greater body protection, turther enhances the international styling theme of the strong-selling Ford Sierra. The new high intensity, computerdeveloped, homofocal headlamp system offers excellent light efficiency and is one third more powerful than a similar size unit of conventional design. The headlamp system achieves this by utilising halogen headlamps with homofocal reflectors. In launching -the new wagon, Ford New Zealand's director of saies and marketing, Mr Reyn Penny, said the Ford Sierra already had a very strong following among family and business buyers. This following reflected the two litre wagon's attributes of style, spaciousness, long distance travelling comfort, value for money and low running costs. "Since the introduction of the Ford Sierra in 1984, motorists have enjoyed the wagon's unique blend of engineering refinement and distinct individual styling
for which the Sierra is now renouned," Mr Penny said. "With the introduction of the new model, we believe even more motorists will be seeking to enjoy these attributes." As well as the redesigned front, the new Ford Sierra Wagon features a number of visual and engineering refinements. The glass area has been increased to provide occupants with greater visibility when travelling while the new wagon also has redesigned tail lights and larger body-side protection mouldings. Inside the wagon, there are a number of improvements. New steps taken to further enhance the smooth and quiet highway ride characteristics of the Ford Sierra Wagon include revised springing along with the installation of extra sound deadening material in the front pillars and floor. A new feature for the Ford Sierra Wagon is the inclusion of height adjustable seatbelt anchors at shoulder level to suit drivers and front seat passengers of any height. Protection of a different type comes to the Ford Sierra from new highsecurity locks for the pas-
senger doors, luggage compartment and fuel filler cap which is now concealed behind a flush-fitting flap. The locks feature rotating disc plates that make ihem far more difficult to pick than the conventional type, have a key that is difficult to copy and, for the cooler climates, a mechanism that is less prone to icing in freezing conditions. "When these improvements to the Ford Sierra Wagon are combined with the existing features it is clear that the new Ford Sierra Wagon represents an excellent package," Mr Penny said. "It is very distinctively styled, well engineered with considerable refinement and represents
excellent value for money." The two-litre Ford Sierra Wagon, regularly a contender among the top ten selling passenger cars, has many additional features to those already mentioned. For example, it offers spacious load carrying capabilities with a 60/40 split fold rear seatback. When all five seats are occupied, the Sierra Wagon can swallow an impressive 1073 litres of luggage. This increases to 1962 litres when both sections of the rear seatback are folded down.
