METEOROLOGICAL EQUIPMENT VANDALISED
Vandals, believed to be young children, are creating a headache for staff at the Ohakune Ranger Station located on the Mountain Road. The Ranger Station's meteorological equipment used to measure temperature, rainfall and humidity, has been the recurring target of vandals for some years and it is proving to
be an expensive hobby to replace broken items. Conservation Officer Rob McCallum discovered the latest incident - a broken thermometer inside a protective house which was forcibly entered. Mr McCalllum did not divulge the cost of the equipment but admitted that the replacement of a single thermometer is an expensive business
