Kunikraft in Goldfinch Street, Ohakune was broken into sometime over the weekend. A list of stolen property is yet to be compiled. ★★★ Between midnight and 2am on Sunday morning, a red Holden Kingswood wagon was unlawfully taken from outside Nobby's Restaurant at the Ohakune Junction. The vehicle, was recovered at the Ohakune Bowling Club yesterday morning. ★★★ On Saturday evening, a pair of Fitzmir skis were forcibly removed from a locked roof rack on a car parked at a Thames Street address. The roof rack was damaged beyond repair by the thief. ★★★ Ohakune Police are investigating the burglary of a unit at the Hobbit Motel in Ohakune, during the early hours of Wednesday morning. The occupant of the unit woke up, to be confronted by the offender who got
away with a brown overnight bag containing clothing and personal effects. Ohakune Police are looking for a male Maori, tall slim build and in his late teens, seen wearing a brown checked Swanndri and jeans, in connection with the incident. ★ ★★ Last Tuesday, a jacket was shoplifted from a rack outside Far End Traders Ltd in Ayr Street, Ohakune. ★★★ Ohakune Police are cracking down on the use of student cards after a number of cases of fraudulent gain of ski concessions have been reported and investigated. Some students have obtained concession day passes to Turoa Skifields Ltd in one of two ways: Firstly by using other people's International Student Identification Cards (ISIC), or secondly obtaining cheap tickets through their friends who are cardholders. As a result of several incidents that occurred last week, a number of prosecutions are pending. *★* A holiday chalet in Conway Street, Ohakune was discovered to have been burgled sometime during August. The value of missing property is estimated between $3000 and $4000. ★★★ Raetihi Police Constable John Robinson attended an accident at around midnight Saturday, when a vehicle with four occupants left the road between Ohakune and Raetihi, rolled several times and came to rest in a paddock. Although no serious injuries resulted, the occupants were taken to Waimarino Hospital for treatment of cuts and bruises. ★ ★★ Traffic Officer Ian Harrison attended a motorcycle accident that occurred on Saturday at 3.45pm opposite Parklands' dairy. the vehicle travelling south lost control on the bottom end of Clyde Street and struck a safety barrier. Neither rider nor passenger were injured in the accident.
