Children's market
A 'mini' market day with a difference is to be held in the streets of Ohaktme this Friday. Children will have the opportunity to earn some pocket money, clean out their wardrobes and get out of their mothers' hair all at the same time, by setting up a stall and selling their goods. Business proprietor Val Parkes said the market day will be an ideal way to occupy the children these school holidays. "It will be a kid's market day run by kids, which means they must organise it for themselves without
help from their parents," she said. Mrs Parkes said she envisages a form of buy, sell or exchange on the day. Children can hire stalls at minimal cost, from the Lions Club. Mrs Parkes said the feedback she has received from some parents has been favourable. "Kids should be doing something with their spare time," she said. "It is an ideal way for them to learn about business, although a restriction is that they must be under 15." A shop day for 'grownups' will be held on Saturday.
