VT250 Rounds Off Line-Up
A high-performanci V-twin engined 250cc fourstroke has been introduced by Blue Wing Honda Ltd, to round off the line-up of Honda road bikes sold in New Zealand. The VT250 Special Edition comes complete with a sports fairing and clip-on style handlebars.
The new machine, which is available in either an eyecatching powder blue colour with white alloy wheels or all white with pink and grey body striping, has a fully enclosed front disc brake as standard equipment and, in a departure from previous VT250 models, the exhaust from the 90 degree V-twin engine is siamesed into one pipe. The extremely responsive 249cc motor has double I overhead camshafts activating the four valves for each cylinder and "hyper-inertia" ports for optimum breathing efficiency. The motor, which develops an impressive 43ps at 12,500rpm and 2.5kg/ m torque at 10,500rpm, features carburised connecting rods to reduce reciprocating weight and thus power loss due to friction. The VT250 Special Edition is also equipped with computer-controlled, fully transistorised ignition. The system automatically matches ignition timing to engine speed and load. It is also maintenance free. The VT250 has been specifically developed to provide agile and easily handled around-town performance with ample top-end punch left in reserve to enable it to double as a lightweight, sports tourer.
