New Park map released

The Department of Survey and Land Information has released a re-drawn map of the Tongariro National Park. Release of the 1:80,000 scale map is to coincide with the park's centennial celebrations. The map is based on the most up-to-date topographical data and is nearly twice the size of the previous edition. Features of the map include new relief shading to give more detail, a full list of ski lodges, illustrations, information on the park's history, shelters, huts, tracks and walks, and a map of Ruapehu skifields on the reverse. This map is the first to be printed under the new department's "Infoniap" trade name and to have a full colour illustrated glossy cover. The maps are available for $5.50 each from the Tongariro National Park Ranger Stations.
