Young "Tumblers" show class
On Saturday 25 July the junior gymnasts of Turoa Tumblers travelled to Wanganui to compete in an in-ter-club competition at the Y.M.C.A. The boys really showed their class by winning grades 9, 8, 7 and 6. Jacob Norgate topped grade 9 and Kelly Chapman performed well, showing his best performance on floor activities. Rhys Langdon was a winner with scores of 9 and over on most apparatus. Shaun McLean went from strength to strength and notched up another first place with an excellent all round effort. Todd Wise did well in this, his last competition.
Warwick Hays in grade 6 was an inspired winner with classy work especially on pommels and floor. Scott Wise was unfortunately only able to compete on a couple of apparatus due to injury, but made a clean sweep in the boys' competition. The boys' effort was a difficult act to follow, but the junior girls performed admirably. Tina McFadyen, Melanie Hill, Coralie Abbott, Mandy Pearson and Terina Abbott competed in grade 7, while Stanella Ngarewa and Kirsty Mcllroy competed in grade 5. Stanella gained a third placing in her respective floor exercise.
